FIRST SURVEY

Which classes did you attend this week?

What was the benefit--for you, for the process--in the one-on-one meeting with Carie?

  • it helped me relax the muscels and stuff in my neck.

  • It was very nice to meet you before the lessons start. Talking and listening to each other made me feel comfortable.

  • understanding technically how the sessions would work, reassurance that I would 'fit in'

  • (1) The self examination in preparations for the one-on-one. (2) Carie's examination of my presentation after my self-examination. Still, my interest and approach to the class is not particularly intentional. It is more, "What am I going to experience and learn, which will almost certainly be unexpected?"

  • it was helpful to understand what Feldenkreis practices are about

  • Easier to focus and adjust with Carie feedback

  • Defining expectations

  • I talk/ email with you all the time? Was one of them the one on one?

  • Great to get things started and understand what Carrie is trying to discover through this pilot program

  • didn't have one

  • Yes received very useful exercise

What has been most useful to you on the portal?

  • i haven't had a chance to use it.

  • The consciousness of the diagonal breathing.

  • discussion of differentiation and calculus!!!

  • I have never been able to enter the portal on my laptop through https://www.yourbodywisdom.net/flexiblehome with the password: flexyflexy. After failures and complaining to Carie about failures, I tried once on my iPhone and got in, but then every attempt to enter again failed.

  • information about differentiation as this information is very new for me

  • The recording of the class

  • Audio's.cant get to lessons but can review as often as I desire

  • I've only accessed thru the emails so far. My schedule has been pretty busy this last week.

  • I can always use reminders to be easy on myself and trust my body

  • links to other information and organized repository for the audiotapes

  • Catch up in my time

Do you have any suggestions for material to add (or subtract), easier navigation, or other portal improvements?

  • see previous

  • No. For me it is okay this way. You are teaching clear. It was nice to talk about my little problems because of the language.

  • it's easy to navigate. I do like the additions of interesting videos

  • I would like to be able to get into the portal to see if I can offer anything in answer to your question.

  • I think it works well so far.

  • Not at the moment

  • No its all quite ok

  • Not at present

  • I like listening back with the recordings

  • basic instruction in how to approach, participate in, and digest the lessons.

  • Maybe they are supposed to be mysterious manipulations that result in unanticipated or surprise results, similar to an alien abduction?

  • Does repeating the tape reinforce, muddle, or confuse the process? Do we take apart the movement in our minds, and strip it to the minimal or add as many body parts as possible or those options and everything in between? or just do nothing except follow directions and let the magic happen?

  • maybe we are supposed to figure it out ourselves?

  • I know it can't be helped 5am is difficult

What would you suggest to improve the notifications?

  • unsure. one hour ahead works.

  • Your mails are clear to me. Maybe some more space between the tinetabke and other information.

  • I would like to get a Zoom link before the session that is independent of the portal. I have been able to attend by going to the original zoom link for the first session. It continues to serve to connect to the subsequent sessions.

  • email chain is nice becuase than all the notifications are in the same place

  • It works well for me

  • notifications are fine

  • Notifications have been working well for me

  • I am not getting any notifications

  • I like them just as they are.

  • everything is good

What was the most valuable insight, experience or after-effect of the work we are doing together?

  • that the small movements can help me relax the tight muscels that are causing grief

  • The consiouscness of the diagonal breathing. I don’t like breathing exercises. A long time ago I have had hyperventilation. The exercises I got did not work. Then I got the exercise: “Don’t pay attention to your breathing” that was difficult but it worked. So I see breathing as a natural movement. But now with Feldenkrais it is another way of looking to your breath. I am surprised and curious.

  • it is definitely making me more curious.....I think I have a certain degree of body awareness but there seems to be a whole new level to explore

  • Most everything revolves around, or at least relates to, the sternum area, and often in a multiplicity of ways.

  • I really enjoyed the parallel breathing and experimenting with the air in my body while laying on the belly. At first it was seemed hard to do but after some time it became more natural and made me think that my body can do many things that I don´t think it can.

  • Some awareness about the posture and I feel less rigide

  • Conscious of breath and the effects on the body, being able to isolate the diaphram

  • Finding my hip not painful when I paddled.

  • The idea of slowly working into poses or movements. Doing those reset movements and then back to original movement and the difference in range and/or comfort is amazing

  • learning that imagining movement and small movements can effect big change

  • Increased body awareness

What was the most engaging?

  • haven't had enough experience to compare

  • Working at home by Zoom. Doing such a course this way is new for me. I like the concept and the way you are teaching.

  • finding those little habits/patterns, even as small as where we direct our eyes....then changing it

  • Notwithstanding the comment about the sternum, the observation on Monday about the about the spine, which was "fundamental" to feldenkrais and it would be nice to have it repeated because I can remember it.

  • working with the diaphragm

  • Your sense of humor and your poetic description

  • Movement of breath and the associated movement of diaphragm

  • The feeling of being able to breath more fully and freely

  • Noticing where I was leading my body from and realizing I can release muscles that are being engaged and yet not necessary to encase.

  • Digging deep on my breathing

  • growing as a group

  • Muscle isolation and awareness

Building community among Piloters is one of our goals. How are we doing so far?

  • have participated in too few classes to comment.

  • For me it is too early to feel a community with the Piloters. But I feel comfortable with them.

  • I was interested to see that other people's dogs also insist on participating on the mat....makes me wonder what they think is actually going to happen...careful mom, it's going to mess with your brain!!

  • Meh. It is not my interest, but that is me. I do have a high level "we are one" philosophy, but this is not the Maypole I dance around. As an introvert, I warm up slowly and I think I will not have enough exposure to feel "community". I do enjoy what others bring to the session and seeing how others communicate what they are experiencing. I try to contribute when I think I have something cogent to say, without taking up too much of the space/time.

  • I am still too focused on myself. Would like to observe the other participants and use their comments

  • Unable to get to lessons at the moment, early hour and current cyclone and flood conditions.

  • I've enjoyed chatting with Barb. I'm thinking Denny hasn't connected the dots that I met him at the retreat on Pender.

  • ?? I haven't reached out to anyone

  • There is room for improvement. Going around the gallery asking for thoughts is helpful but time consuming. How about an optional live chit chat among Piloters 10 minutes prior to the start (like walking into a meeting room prior to the start of the meeting)? The intros. brought up lots of interesting avenues to pursue.

  • I definitely feel part of it
